Foobar2000 is a powerful audio player that is very popular due to its very high sound quality, extensive customization capabilities, simple (spartan) interface and low system requirements. The software supports a variety of audio formats, including MP3, MP1, MP2, MP4, MPC, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, FLAC / Ogg FLAC, WavPack, AIFF, AU, WAV, SND and CDDA. Full Unicode support is also provided. Foobar2000 uses a new playlist format called m3u8 and is also able to read APEv2-tags from MP3 files, but does not support id3v2. Thanks to its open architecture, the software allows third-party developers to extend its capabilities using various plugins.
