Acoustics 201 course: Loudspeaker measurements. This course teaches you how to measure the frequency response of a speaker driver, speaker itself, or audio system. The main challenge of this course is to achieve the frequency response of an anechoic room without the need for a room with the same characteristics. Using various measurement techniques and user-friendly software, you will learn how to measure the entire frequency bandwidth anechoically in your living room. This skill will help you tune your audio system based on measured data or use it to design crossovers for your homemade speakers.

This course also goes a little into electrical engineering topics. The audio system is a combination of acoustic and electrical components. You will learn how to measure impedance and draw impedance diagrams. Also, how to measure different electrical components such as capacitors, inductors and resistors is taught. In addition, if you have an unknown speaker driver, you will learn to measure marble/small parameters without difficulty. This course will not fully teach you how to design a crossover, but it will show you how to create FRD and ZMA files. These files contain frequency response and impedance information that are used in crossover design software. At the end of the course, we will teach you how to load these files into such programs, and by trying different circuits, you will see how the crossover components work.
