A-Level Maths: Mechanics (Year 2), This course covers everything in the mechanics component of maths A-Level 2nd year content, and builds on the content covered in my first year course A-Level Maths: Mechanics (Year 1 / AS). The course is suitable for all major exam boards, including Edexcel, OCR, AQA and MEI. It is also a great intermediate course for anyone interested in developing their understanding of the subject.

The main sections of the course are: Moments – we will learn how to calculate the moment of a force, and use this in a broad range of scenarios, including modelling ladders leaning against walls, rods on supports and hanging from ropes, and more. Kinematics – we will learn how to model a projectile flying through the air, look at how to use calculus to explore variable acceleration in one and two dimensions, and use vectors to model the motion of objects in two dimensions. Dynamics – we will learn how to work with friction, and see how this influences the motion of objects on rough surfaces, including inclined planes. We will also look at more complex systems, such as connected particles, building on the previous year’s work on Newton’s second law of motion.
